faq

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a social event, typically lasting several hours to several days, where a large number of people come together to engage in collaborative computer programming. Participants, often working in teams, focus on creating software or hardware projects that might adhere to a specific theme or solve a given issue.

How many people per team?

You can work solo or in a group of up to 4 people! Don’t worry if you don’t have a team prior to the hackathon, lots of teams can be made at the event!

What if I don’t have a team?

There will be an opportunity at the beginning of the hackathon for those who do not have teams to form them.

How much does it cost to attend LazyHacks?

It’s completely free! All food and accomodations will be provided. Transportation fees are not covered, however Hackclub’s Gas Fund can partially cover the cost.

Will food be provided?

YES! Lunch and dinner, as well as snacks will be provided for the duration of the hackathon.

Do I need experience?

LazyHacks is a beginner-friendly hackathon designed for those who don’t have much experience!

Is the hackathon online or in-person?

Unfortunately, there will be no online alternative to LazyHacks. It will be a solely in-person event.

What should I bring to LazyHacks?

Valid government issued ID, your hacking equipment (laptop, mouse, charging cord, any hardware you may want to use), water bottle, anything you may need to stay comfortable for 11 hours, lazy spirit!

Who can participate and how to apply?

LazyHacks is only open to current high schoolers. Applications can be submitted through the Google Form here.

Can I start on the project before the hackathon?

All projects must be worked on solely during the hacking time of the event! No work done prior to the hackathon will be tolerated.
